Outdoor Pics

The weather was so great on Saturday!! The kids love to be outside playing. Aydan is such a busy-body. He's constantly getting into something he's not suppose to and boy does he get mad when someone tells him no!! He likes to play out in the yard, but we have to keep a close eye on him, especially living right on the highway. He also tries to be Dad's helper out in the garage. He grabs the tools and pretends to work on the lawn mower. Kenzie is pretty content just riding her bike up and down the sidewalk or making a hopscotch with her chalk. I can't believe how big shes getting. I think she's 6 going on 15! She can have such an little attitude sometimes (her teenage years ought to be exciting !) She and Aydan are pretty much total opposites! When she was his age, she was so good, never got into anything, at least from what I remember. And he seems to get into any and everything. Also, she is quite a jabber mouth and Aydan is pretty quiet, for the most part. Aydan is such a great sleeper. He has slept through the night since he was two months old. Well, there is times once in a while where he does wake up, but when Mackenzie was a baby, it seemes like got up at least once every night until she was like three years old. But, we couldn't ask for better kids. We are very blessed to have such a great family!

Bible School

This week, Mackenzie has been going to Vacation Bible School in the evenings at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Forrest. Shes had a lot of fun there with all of the activities and crafts that they do. With school being out, I think its good for her to be around other kids and to be learning new things. I'm sure she enjoys being able to get out of the house without Mom and Dad too. Tonight was the last night of the bible school so the kids put on a little program with some songs and dances for the parents to watch. It was pretty cute.

After the program, they had cookies and lemonade for everyone.

Here are some of the kids outside trying to catch lightning bugs.

Funny Faces

I got a couple of pictures of Aydan while he was eating the other day. I'm not sure what he was doing in this one, but it looks pretty funny!

Here he is with a big smile :)

Now he's pretending to be shy-we know better, Aydan

One of his favorite toys now is my cell phone. He'll grab it out of my purse and walk around the house with it. "Hi" he says as he puts it up to his ear. Then he'll close it and bring it down by his hip, like he's going to clip it there, like Dad does. He's also starting to get more into playing with cars and trucks. He's even starting to make the noises to go along with them.

Just to update everyone on Aydan's burns, they are healing really, really well. We aren't even wrapping them anymore. They've gotten so much better just in the past two weeks, we can't believe it. The other day after we took his wraps off for the last time and let him stand up, he pointed to his foot and looked at us like whats going on, I can see my feet again. Its nice that he's getting back to normal. He can wears shoes again and play outside.

Just sit still, please!

I was trying to get a good picture of the kids together, both looking at me, smiling, you know, perfect! Well, that is about mission impossible so this is the best I got. Mackenzie started out smiling, then Aydan would turn and look at her and smile, but not towards me. Then when he looked at me smiling, Kenzie wasn't paying attention. "Mackenzie, look at me and smile" I tell her. Well then Aydan's bored and trying to get out of there. Okay enough of this, just look at me and smile. Click. It isn't perfect, but it'll do until next time I get camera happy.

Aydan got his 3rd haircut the other day. He was looking pretty shaggy. His hair grows so fast. Trying to cut a 16 month old boy's hair isn't the easiest thing to do. I have him sit in his height chair and I give him something to play with or eat so he will sit still. I grab the scissors and go to work but he keeps turning his head, trying to see what I'm doing. "Aydan, you need to sit still" I tell him. Yeah right, nice try Mom. So, while he's squirming and looking from side to side, I try to make his hair look the best I can, but its definitely not perfect. I told Danny he should just buzz it like his.

Happy Father's Day

Life Lessons

You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The woman I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

Hide and Seek (sort of)

Hmmm.... Where did Aydan go?
Its so funny to play hide and seek with Aydan because he seems to think that if he covers his eyes and he can't see me then surely I can't see him.

Ah ha!!! There he is.

Good and Bad news

I'll give you the good news first:
Yesterday we had to take Aydan back to Springfield so they could look at his burns again and finally make a decision on what to do. They decided that his legs are showing enough signs of healing that he would not need any skin grafting-thank goodness!!! He should be mostly healed in a few weeks so that is wonderful. That is what we had hoped they would say. Actually, his right leg that had the smaller burn doesn't even need to be wrapped in gauze anymore. It is healing really well. He's getting around really good and he is starting to stand a lot more. Now he just needs to go back to Springfield in about 3 weeks so they can check on him. We're glad that we don't have to go back more often than that. Its such a long drive and its not cheap with the price of gas now!!

Heres the bad news:
On our way down last Thursday, we hit a HUGE pothole on the interstate. It was scary. We thought for sure we would have blown a tire or something. But, we kept on driving and made it there and back without any problems. It wasn't until two days later that we saw the damage to our wheels. The right front and back aluminum wheels were cracked pretty bad and there is a bubble in each of those tires, which Danny said means that there is a belt broke inside. We can't believe that we made it home driving on those wheels like that. So, now we have to get that fixed, but luckily insurance will pay for fixing it.

Guitar Hero

Looks like a natural, doesn't she. She loves to play around with Danny's guitar so we got this picture of her with it. She tries to play songs, but mostly, she'll just sing. She likes Walk the Line by Johnny Cash.

And the winner is....

Aydan doesn't let his injury stop him from beating up his sister. He's still quite a playful little guy and loves to wrestle around with Kenzie. Pretty soon, he'll be bigger than she is!

This is Aydan on Saturday, the day after his accident. Poor little guy!

Update on Aydan

Here is a little update on what's going on with Aydan. When we went in on Monday, they actually wanted to keep him overnight so they could keep an eye on him and check his burns the next morning. They said its a really deep 2nd degree and there's a spot on his left ankle that they are still unsure how they may need to treat. Its a possibility that they will need to do a skin graft on that spot, but I really hope not. So, we got to spend the day at the hospital, just hanging out. Not so fun with a 16 month old boy, but they brought us a wagon with a bunch of toys that Aydan could play with. That helped a little bit but it was still hard to keep him occupied. We took several wagon rides around the hospital. They brough a crib into our room for him to sleep in, but he refused. I don't blame him a bit; it was very scary looking, as you can see. So, he slept with me on the chair that pulled out into a bed. Danny got stuck sleeping in a recliner. They didn't give us a cot to sleep on. Needless to say, none of us got very much sleep. In the morning, they had a plastic surgeon come in to look at his burns to see if he thought he would need surgery. At first they wanted us to stay another night but they ended up letting us go home-thank goodness!! They are still unsure what they want to do with that spot on his left ankle so we do need to go back to Springfield on Thursday so they can hopefully make a decision. When we changed his dressings last night, Danny and I both thought that they looked a lot better, but we will see what the doctors think.
