"Froggy?"

On the way to work this morning, I said something to Kenzie about it being foggy outside. She's like, "Yeah it is "froggy" today because of all the rain." Froggy, huh? I told her its "foggy" not "froggy" but she still says "froggy."

Mackenzie has this Dora the Explorer plug & play game that she got for Christmas 2 yrs ago. She hadn't played it in ages so I put in on the garage sale. Well, she found it before the sale and swiped it up. "I'm gonna keep this Mom, " she says. (Actually, she was saying that about everything of hers that she found, but I let her keep the game.) So now I think she's addicted to it. Everyday on the way home from the babysitter's, "I'm gonna go home and play my videogame and you're gonna watch, k' Mom!" She'll even get it out in the morning before we leave if she has time. She's getting really good at it and at least its educational for her.

School will be starting again soon. I can't believe how fast the summer has gone. It will be good for Kenzie to go back to school though. She'll be a big 1st grader this year!! Where has my little girl gone? It seems crazy that she is that old! Wait a minute....if I'm freaking out now, whats it gonna be like when she's graduating and moving out? Oh my!!

Aydan is 1 1/2 and I think he's hit his terrible two's already! He is so much fun, but he gets into absolutely EVERYTHING!!! He's going through his hitting stage as well. At daycare, he trys to beat up on the older kids. When he gets mad about something, he's not afraid to show it! He head butts whatevers in front of him and throws things. Sometimes I can't help but laugh. Its really not funny though and I do hope its just a stage he's going through right now. He does have a loveable side to him too. When I pick him up from daycare, he runs up to me with a big smile and hugs my leg. He does give kisses once in a while too.

Home Improvement

This is the upstairs bedroom after all the painting and the trim and the floor is done. Its a huge room, I think it measures 15ft x 16ft with a 4ft x 8 ft closet that Danny put in. We think it turned out great, if only you had seen it before!

Dining room looking into the living room.

This is the other room upstairs that we are waiting to have carpeted. Its basically identical to the other room, just a different color. They were suppose to come Friday to install it but plans changed and now it is supposed to be done sometime this week, hopefully. So when I took this picture, I tried my best not to get the floor it.

Bathtime

After all that fun in the dirt, it was time for a bath! This is actually their first bath together and probably the last. Aydan kept trying to dump water on Kenzie and she hates that! Getting all the dirt out of Aydan's hair was quite a job. The water was pretty dirty by the time they were done.

And I thought the paint was a mess.....

Just look at that grin. If that doesn't look like trouble, then I don't know what does!! Is his hair blonde or black?
Look at those dirty feet!!!
Yep, he's putting it in his shoe!
I saw Aydan playing with this and I just thought it was perfect. (Notice the brand name!)

Black and White

Aydan + Paint= Huge Mess

This is what happens when we leave Aydan alone for 5 minutes:

He ventured off upstairs while we were out in the garage putting some stuff away and found the paint that Danny was using. It never takes him long to find trouble! Looks like he had a lot of fun anyway. Yeah, off to the bathtub with him.

Jarrad & the 88 car

This picture is from the Sprint Cup race in Chicagoland over the weekend. My sister and her husband took my brother (pictured above) to the races up there and it sounds like they had a great time. Awesome picture, Jarrad :)

Fun in the sprinkler

It's finally starting to feel like July weather around here so the other night, we got out the sprinkler for the kids to play in. Kenzie loved it, but Aydan wasn't too sure about it right away. We had to turn it down really low before he would go near it.

Odds & Ends

Long time no post, huh! Not much new has happened lately but I still wanted to do a new post. We've been getting a lot done with our house within the past couple of weeks. I'm so excited, we are getting new carpet for stairway and the other bedroom upstairs. Once thats done, the upstairs will be pretty much finished. Danny has been working on the new closet and putting the new trim around the rooms. And, my one and only job has been painting the trim and doors because thats basically all I am able to do. Between working on the house and playing with the kids, we have stayed pretty busy lately!

Mackenzie's bedroom was in need of a serious cleaning the other day so Danny and I worked on that one day while the kids were at his sister's. She just had so many toys everywhere and she hadn't been doing very well at picking up after herself. Aydan is not much help either. He loves to play in her room. Its so funny, he goes in there and puts a CD in her CD player and turns it on. Then once its playing, he turns the volume all the way up and stands there and dances. Its so hilarious, until we start fighting with him about turning down the volume. Anyway, back to the messy room. We went through all of her toys and took a lot of them down to the basement and threw out some stuff. We went through all of the stuff in her closet too. The bed that she had was really big, too big for her room. I think it was a double or something. Anyway, we took it out and now she has just a twin bed, which gives her a lot more room to play. She loves the new bed because there's enough room under the bed for her to lay under and "have a tent" with flashlight and stuffed animals. She's so funny. She has been doing a lot better at keeping her room clean now.

New Floor!

We (or Danny I should say) put this new floor in one of the upstairs bedrooms over the weekend. It looks really good. For those of you who don't know, we are remodeling our upstairs, which has 2 more bedrooms. When we moved in, there was no stairway leading upstairs. The only access was a pull down staircase. I did have pictures on our old computer, which crashed and we lost everything on it so I can't show you what it looked like. Sorry!! So, a few months ago we took out the pull down and built a staircase. We've put new drywall in both rooms and are in the process of new floors and painting. The room that we just put the floor in is about finished. Its painted and trimmed. We are putting in a closet because the original closet was ridiculously small. I don't even think it was wide enough to fit a hanger so that had to go. We will be putting carpet on the stairs and in the other room hopefully within the next few weeks. I can't wait for it to be finished. Its going to be so nice. It will give us a lot more space and we can actually say that we have a five bedroom house. Danny has done such a great job with all of the work!! I will have more pictures to come as we finish everything up.

Fireworks

Friday night we went to Sibley to see the fireworks display. We got there really early, around 6:30 pm so we had a lot of time to spare before they actually started. Trying to contain Aydan was about impossible. He wanted to run around and play, and go say hi to everyone around us. Finally, shortly after 9:00 pm the fireworks started. At first, Aydan hid his face on Dad's chest and wouldn't look at them. But, about mid way through, he started to look and point at them. Luckily, they didn't seem to scare him or Mackenzie. It was a pretty good show.

4th of July

Aydan getting a ride in the boat.
Aydan petting Aunt June's new puppy, Max. He likes animals, but you gotta watch him because sometimes he pulls tails and pokes their eyes.

"I'm ready to get in the pool now. Oh wait, I forgot....."
"Ok, now I'm ready to get in."

Aydan wasn't too sure about being in the boat. He liked it better when someone was holding on to him.

"Look Mom, no floaties!!"

On Friday, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Parks' house for a cook out and to do some swimming. Mackenzie likes to be in the water, but she hates to be splashed, especially in the face. Aydan doesn't mind being in the water, as long as someone is holding on to him tight. Then he'll splash around and play a little bit. They both had a lot of fun.

What are brothers for?

Mackenzie has always wanted a little sister! But, hey the next best thing is a little brother who lets you do whatever you want to him. She decided to put some of her clips in Aydan's hair so she could "make him look cute." Next thing is she will want to put a dress on him and have a tea party. He doesn't care though. He's up for anything I guess.
